Organizational Structure

The Tepeyac Association consists of a network of 40 groups called Guadalupano Committees. These committees are based in 40 neighborhoods throughout New York City and portions of upstate New York; they are divided into eight regions based on population size and geographical location. Each region is composed of several committees led by 4 or 5 elected representatives who in turn elect a regional leader. Each of the eight regional elected leaders form the majority of the board of directors. Three members of each committee vote every six months at the General Assembly for the mayor plans and decisions. This grassroots initiative builds a sense of trust among members since decisions are made from within the community.

  1. The General Assembly is the maximum authority of the Association. The 3 principal leaders of each Guadalupano Committee integrate it. They deposit their executive authority on the 7 Regional Leaders, which form the Board of Directors. The principal leaders of each committee, who are integrated in the Region, choose regional leaders through democratic elections. They are elected for 2 years and with the possibility of being elected again after the evaluation but only for one more year, if their region decides it.
  2. Anyone who want to be a member of this association must belong to and be an active member of at least one of the following kind of groups: Guadalupano Committees, the teams of Goals, Cooperatives promoted by the Association, and Voluntary group encouraged by the Association. The Staff or the Team of Support is only a team that gives services to the Board of Directors and only has moral authority and can not make decisions. They can only carry out what they are in charge what Board of Directors has given them. The Director of the Programs and the Association Projects coordinates the Staff.
