Joel Magallan, a former Jesuit, is the Executive Director of Asociacion Tepeyac. Joel received his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Social Sciences and later a Masters degree in Business Administration from El Tecnologico de Monterrey. During his time in Mexico, Joel was very involved in educating people of all social levels, from young farm workers to college students.
Joel has lived in the U.S. for the past 17 years. During his Jesuit years, he received a Masters in Education at Loyola University of Chicago. Later, as a community organizer, he tirelessly helped improve the lives of gang members.
For the past 14 years, he has been working diligently at the city and national level, promoting legalization for undocumented immigrants by forming and promoting several grassroots movements.
Joel has called for and promoted better education for Latino children. Currently, Joel is at the forefront in helping young Latino students attain access and success in Higher Education.
