After completing a 54-credit program, students will have bachelor's degrees
-licenciaturas in Spanish - from a Mexican university.

Universidad TecMilenio is a spinoff of an established private Mexican school, the Monterrey Technological Institute. Barraza said the reputation of the "Tec de Monterrey," as the institute is known, should carry over to this new cyber-institution, which began operating in February.

"Everybody who's working now in the Universidad TecMilenio used to work in the Monterrey Technological Institute, so we're not starting from zero. Rather, we're transferring all that experience from the 'Tec de Monterrey' to the Universidad TecMilenio," Barraza said.

The tuition cost per three-credit course is $250, Barraza said. As part of their agreement, PCC and the Universidad TecMilenio will split the tuition revenue, Zaragoza said.

Eventually, the two institutions dream of offering a dual degree program, in which students would earn degrees from both Mexican and American institutions. But that dream is at least two years from fruition.

All the courses will be in Spanish, Barraza said. He expects the main demand for the course to be from Mexicans and other Latin Americans living abroad, as well as from cross-border businesses whose employees need training. Anyone interested in inquiring about the program should call Zaragoza at 520-206-6473.
