English as Second Language
English as a Second Language (ESL) at Asociacion Tepeyac de New York.
The English program at Asociacion Tepeyac de New York prepares participants to develop the skills of speaking, writing, reading, and understanding English, which they need to be more productive both in the workplace and in everyday life. The goal is to help students to use language and increase their potential and become successful people. People are more likely to qualify for work, school or business opportunities when they have solid English Language skills.
Our classes focus on the student. It is a communicative approach to language study. The focus is on meaningful communication. In this approach, students are given tasks to be carried out, using the language, rather than just studying the grammar. The curriculum is based on the use of English in real daily life: going to the doctor, getting a job, managing time and money, etc.
Students attend class four hours each week. They go through different levels, starting from the level of beginner to advanced level. Each level consists of 6 weeks. When students fail to participate in their classes, for work reasons, they may change their class schedule, or continue their training when they return to find a suitable time. Courses begin every six weeks.
Asociacion Tepeyac has five types of schedules, flexible and appropriate to the different needs of immigrant workers.
Schedule A: Monday and Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM (2 hours class each day)
Schedule B: Tuesday and Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM (2 hours class each day)
