Organizational Structure of the Asociación Tepeyac de New York.

The organizational structure and decision-making process of Asociación Tepeyac de New York was designed to facilitate the development of grassroots leadership.  Asociación Tepeyac is a network of 40 community based organizations. These organizations are based in 40 neighborhoods throughout five boroughs of New York City (Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Queens), and portions of Upstate New York. Three members of each organization vote every six months at the General Assembly to evaluate and make the decisions about future, and annual plans of the Asociacion Tepeyac.

The Association is divided into eight regions based on population size and geographical location.  Each region is composed of 4, 5, or 6 organizations led by a representative who is elected to be a regional leader for three years. All of the eight regional leader make-up the majority of the Board of Directors, who do the follow up of the decisions of the General Assembly.

There are several Work Commissions, which study and develop specific topics related to the Mexican Community development in New York. Each Work Commission elects a Commission Coordinator, who helps the Board of Directors when it is required.

This organizational structure and decision-making process builds senses of trust amongst members as decisions are made from within the community.  Undoubtedly, the leadership of Asociación Tepeyac is representative of low-income Mexican immigrants in New York City.

The Staff of Asociacion Tepeyac receives its mission from the General Assembly, and it is supervised for the Board of Directors. Executive Director leads the staff members, who are dedicated to develop those decisions made for the General Assembly and the Board of Directors. There are two Advisory Boards, which support and help the work of the Asociación.
