Soccer Camp:

 Objectives of the Soccer Camp:

1. The physical and emotional development of our boys and girls. That they come to fulfill the goal of a “healthy mind in a healthy body”. That they are occupied in activities that will prevent their involvement in gangs, drugs, or other illegal activities. That they develop self-discipline, make physical exercise a habit and develop healthy friendships.

2. That participants become skilled players with a chance to obtain sports scholarships for university study. That they have the chance to eventually play in professional teams in Mexico or the United States and are incorporated into the Club Chivas (Mexican national soccer club, based in Guadalajara with professional, amateur, youth and children’s leagues), becoming part of their tours and national and international tournaments, like any school affiliated with the club.

3. That the parents become involved in an integral way in the development of their children and that soccer becomes a tool for strengthening their self-esteem, good interpersonal relationships and a means for becoming involved in other programs that improve their education and development as parents.

4. As they serve children, parents and youth become involved in training and other specialized skills so that they might become Professional Sports Coaches, backed by Club Chivas.

Scope of the Soceer Camp:

The Soccer Camp is one of the services offered by the Tepeyac Association for the development of our Mexican community in New York City. It is open to children of all nationalities and races. It is affiliated with Club Chivas of Guadalara and our children can benefit by being eligible to compete with other affiliated schools and there be scouted and selected to be a part of the Club’s teams. Also our coaches can become professional coaches by the same means.

The Camp is funded by the tuition which the parents pay and by foundations and other institutions that support physical education for children.  There will be two weekly (2-hour) practice sessions for three courses of twelve weeks each. Each training center will have two professional coaches and several volunteers who are coaches and referees-in-training. The Director of the camp is part of the Club Chivas and visits each training center once a week. The camp is organized Saturdays and Sundays, with practice, league tournaments and events for the children and their parents.

In the summer, the league champions will travel to Mexico with the help of parent volunteers and the camp will seek funding in order to reward the best students with this trip.
